Anytime when the data is transmitted in your computer you can see how the data is being routed to different servers. When you type your passwords or your bank account details the process is repeated. The transmission of the data what we send occurs in plain text that means anyone can read it and it traverses many servers to reach destination. The only solution to this problem is to encrypt the data for transmission. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) was created for this purpose. SSL uses a complex key exchange between the server and the destination while transmitting data to make it into an encrypted form. A website containing active SSL session is what we mean when we say a web page is secure. To check the page is secured or not, see the URL when you type a website. If the website is traversed to other pages whose web address starts with “http”, then it is not a secure one, while if the page starts with URL “https” then it is surely a secured web page. Note the difference of’  a in the URL, it will get you out of this page security confusion.
Another way to check the security of the page is to see whether there is a “lock” symbol on the right side of URL. This lock symbol keeps you aware about the security and double clicking on this icon will give you all the security details about the web page. Other indicators of a secured web page are high visibility. From high visibility we mean the web page can be found out easily for the customer. Verification Functionality means there will be some sort of seal which will be verified by clicking mouse over it and it will display all the contents of the page. Thus you can make sure if the web page is secured or not.
